Sumi

Sumi is a small ink-and-tea atelier on a Higashiyama side street, and its page is one long scroll through seven scenes. It opens on a garden pond seen from above, koi turning under a mirror of maples and scattering from the ripples your cursor leaves; a drop of ink falls and blooms through a real fluid simulation until the water is black, and you surface beneath it, looking up through Snell's window as a koi swims into the lens and streams, point by point, into the brush strokes of the kanji for heart on washi. The paper then travels sideways as a scroll whose ink bleeds in as it is drawn, drops into night water where a lotus rises and opens into dawn, burns into a stone lantern at dusk with fireflies, and ends on a brush whose last drip ripples the footer in. Built in HTML and Three.js, one file, no build step, with the four models hosted.
