Kawa is a seven-room ryokan on a Kyoto canal, and its hero is the canal itself: a boat you steer with the pointer up an endless street of machiya, willows and cherry trees at dawn. The water carries a planar reflection, a refraction of the koi and caustics below, and a live wave simulation the hull pushes, with a Kelvin wake and petals that part around the bow. As the curtain lifts the fog thins and the paper lanterns flicker on one by one down the street, and the scroll turns dawn into morning. Built in HTML and Three.js, one file, no build step, with the models and textures hosted.
